Experience the Custom Touch

Why Us

The Process

Custom Cabinets, which started in Newfoundland, is a business that also believes in supporting the local companies around it. For this reason, we purchase high quality, local wood products, which we then inspect and store within our own facility. We also maintain stock for many of the products we offer to build a set of cabinets. Finally, the manufacturing itself is done within our location to ensure quality control and prompt service.

The Process

The first step in the cabinet manufacturing process is to cut the proper material to the specific sizes needed to construct the boxes, which are the foundation of the cabinets. Our staff has both the training and experience to use the necessary equipment with precision and efficiency.

Once all the material is cut to construct the cabinets, it is then sent to the assembly department, who put the boxes together. During this, supplies such as cabinet doors, panels and moldings are sent to the sanding department. Here they are individually sanded by hand.

After sanding, the doors and other supplies are ready to be stained. Since the stain we use is a wipe-on stain it must be applied with a lint free cloth, and then wiped off by hand.

From here, the components are sent to another department where they will be sealed. This process closes off the pores in the wood, and keeps the finish coat from absorbing into the cabinet.

Once they have been sealed, the cabinet doors are ready to get their finish coat, which is called lacquer. This is an important step in the cabinet manufacturing process as it gives our cabinets their shine and durability. At Custom Cabinets we use a lacquer with a 46% solid content, compared to 34% used by most businesses in the industry. This choice of lacquer ensures our cabinets meet the highest standards.

Finally, before the cabinets are delivered and installed in your home, they are assembled and inspected.
